The Protestant Horse
Have you ever heard the phrase, “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts?” There is an ancient tale that nonetheless conveys a critical truth. It is known as The Trojan Horse tale, which is often told in connection with The Trojan War. The authenticity of this tale is highly doubtful. However, as told by the ancient Greek poet Virgil in Aeneid, Bk II, the Trojan horse was used by the Greeks to secretly enter the city of Troy and conquer it. Supposedly, the Greeks constructed a huge hollow wooden horse in order to gain entrance into the city of Troy during the Trojan War.
-
- “The Greeks, pretending to desert the war, sailed to the nearby island of Tenedos, leaving behind Sinon, who persuaded the Trojans that the horse was an offering to Athena (goddess of war) that would make Troy impregnable. Despite the warnings of Laocoön and Cassandra, the horse was taken inside the city gates. That night Greek warriors emerged from it and opened the gates to let in the returned Greek army.” (
- )
Although the story cannot be proven as authentic, the moral of the story is biblical. “Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” –Proverbs 27:6. The Protestants of America are falling for a scenario similar to that of the inhabitants of Troy. There are subtle moves being made by “friendly” anti-protestants to break down the barriers of religious liberty that Protestants have erected in the constitution of the United States. And the Trojan horse used by these opponents of freedom can be called The Protestant Horse.
Recently, religious leaders from all over the world gathered together in Kansas City, MO for an event called Kairos 2017. This gathering was organized by United in Christ, a non-profit organization that promotes and fosters Christian reconciliation and unity in an ecumenical form. The organization was founded in 1995 in the United States by an Italian Catholic named Professor Matteo Calisi (pictured left). You may have never heard of him, but Matteo is also President and Founder of the Community of Jesus, an international association, which is devoted to worship, evangelization and Christian reconciliation. Of interest to us is Matteo’s roots and branches within Roman Catholic institutions. The official United in Christ website says the following concerning Matteo:
-
- “From 2002 to 2013 he served as President of the Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic Covenant Communities and Fellowships (CFCCCF). In 2008, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him as a Member of the Pontifical Council for the Laity. He has personally met Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis on many occasions. … [He] has participated in and contributed to various international dialogues with Evangelicals, Pentecostals, Orthodox, and Messianic Jews.” (
- )
This may not alarm you, but if you understand history and Bible prophecy it should raise red flags. It was once said by President George Washington’s general, Lafayette, that, “If the liberties of the American people are ever destroyed, they will fall by the hand of the Roman Catholic cult’s clergy.” -Charles Chiniquy, Fifty Years in the “Church” of Rome, p. 483. Friends, the Bible is clear that, before the return of Jesus, there will be a uniting of the professed Christians of Protestant America with those of Catholicism to form a world-wide Church (movement) that will promote and even legislate a specific form of worship. How can such an event take place in America? Does not our constitution guarantee the freedom of religion and liberty of conscience? The Bible says, “And he [Protestant America] had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.” –Revelation 13:15. Dear reader, this prophecy will be fulfilled in verity, and the movements of United in Christ, along with various other Christian associations, are nearing us to this catastrophic event! The Protestant horse, for America, are Catholic organizations such as United in Christ that subtly enters into Protestantism and helps to destroy its constitutional principles.
In order to pass out The Great Controversy books and to better understand how these Christians are seeking unity within all denominations, The Counsel of Prophecy attended a few of their meetings at the recent Kairos 2017 event. Space will not allow for me to fully express the impact this event had on me as I listened to their words and appeals for unity. In an attempt to gather more information, I attempted to interview Professor Matteo. But because English is not his mother tongue, I was unable to get much from him; his interpreter was not around when we spoke. I was, however, able to interview several other figures, one of which was Lou Engle (pictured left), who is a revivalist, visionary, and co-founder of TheCall, Inc. Mr. Lou represents a large body of evangelicals who are working for unity among Christians of all denominations. He and Professor Matteo are close friends. The picture below shows Lou Engle kneeling to kiss the shoes of Professor Matteo as an act of reconciliation with Catholics.
In my interview with Lou, I asked him about his thoughts concerning the doctrinal differences among Christians and how there can be unity with such differences. Mr. Lou stated in the interview: “We are not finding one another on the basis of biblical [differences]. The foundation of Jesus Christ, the son of God, savior of the world, being born again, being filled with the Holy Spirit, preach[ing] the gospel, these things [are] our centerpiece. … We’re not going to find one another on doctrine, we’re going to find one another around Jesus.” I also asked him if he thought that Christians would ever have to influence the powers of the state to assist in bringing unity to pass. He said, “The Lord instituted governments. … The fact is we’ve withdrawn from government, unbiblically. The fact is with the righteous in government, the nation prospers. So I believe that God raises up Daniels into high places to influence government to release decrees that bring forth justice. … I do believe that the church is called to be involved in the political realm for the healing of nations, but the government’s job is different for the church’s job.” -Interview with Lou Engle, October 26, 2017. This reminds me of a prophecy made by Sister White in 1888:
-
- “The wide diversity of belief in the Protestant churches is regarded by many as decisive proof that no effort to secure a forced uniformity can ever be made. But there has been for years, in churches of the Protestant faith, a strong and growing sentiment in favor of a union based upon common points of doctrine. To secure such a union, the discussion of subjects upon which all were not agreed—however important they might be from a Bible standpoint—must necessarily be waived. … And what do we see just ahead?—Another general council! A world’s convention! Evangelical alliance, and universal creed!” When this shall be gained, then, in the effort to secure complete uniformity, it will be only a step to the resort to force. When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the State to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result.” -Ellen White,
The Great Controversy
- , pp. 444, 445.
In the public message that Mr. Lou gave at the Kairos 2017 event he stated the following:
- “I think one of the great things that the churches need to know [is] the moment in which it lives so that it can act in the moment in which it lives. When Daniel understood those times, he set his face to fasting and prayer to shift us into a new era. This very gathering [Kairos 2017] is a trumpet sound of the shifting into a new era. We can’t just see it as a cool conference; something must come forth from this that shifts us into a new day. In fact, what is going on in America demands that we understand the moment.” -Message given by Lou Engle in Kansas City, MO, October 25, 2017.
Dear reader, do you understand the moment? Can you discern the signs of the times? In light of such startling revelations concerning Satan’s attack on religious liberty, God’s people must be awake and active like never before. Paul said, “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” –2 Timothy 2:4. Are you a soldier for Christ? Do you entangle yourself with the common affairs of this life? In the story of the Trojan horse, it was because of their unwillingness to heed the warnings of Laocoön and Cassandra that the inhabitants of Troy were deceived by the enemy army and conquered. So it is with professed Protestants. Because of their refusal to heed the warnings of the three angels’ messages, they are left without the protection of God. Darkness has covered their eyes so that evil is seen as good, and good is called evil, and this will only worsen as time progresses. But for us who profess to know and believe the present truth, we must be watching and praying all the more earnestly. It will only be by a diligent search of the scriptures, and a firm adherence to them, that we will escape the delusions of the Protestant horse.
Cayenne, King of the Herbs!
Cayenne, King of the Herbs!
By: Mrs. Carter
Botanical Name: Capsicum annuum
Common names are: cayenne pepper, red pepper, capsicum, Spanish pepper, bird pepper, chillies, African Pepper, Chilli pepper etc.
Nutritional value: Cayenne is a very high source of Vitamins A and C, has the complete B complexes, and is very rich in organic calcium and potassium, which is one of the reasons it is good for the heart.
Cayenne can be produced in good quality in the southern states, especially the states that are beyond the southern line of Tennessee. It grows abundantly and of good quality in the West Indies, where the people use it as a remedy for nearly all their maladies. The people there have no fear for the fatal effect from fevers, even the dangerous yellow fever, if they can get plenty of Capsicum. They not only drink a tea of it, but they also bite and chew it and swallow the pods one after the other; neither are they afraid of it doing them harm.
Many herbalists believe that cayenne is the most useful and valuable herb in the herb kingdom and that it is very good for the digestive, heart, and circulatory system. It acts as a catalyst and increases the effectiveness of other herbs when used with them.
Cayenne is a great herb for all sorts of body conditions such as: fresh, open or old wounds, rheumatism, inflammation, kidney, spleen pancreas, fevers, intestines, sunburns, sprains, headaches, skin conditions and many more. That is why it is called the King of the Herb.
Dr. Schultz was said “Cayenne is not an irritant like the mustard and black pepper is.” Jethro Kloss also noted that “It produces the most powerful impression on the surface, yet never draws a blister; on the stomach, yet never weakens its tone. It is so diffusive in its character that it never produces any local lesion, or induces permanent inflammation.” Another statement from Jethro Kloss: “I have thus cured with it in a single night, cases of rheumatism that had been for years most distressing. Though severe on the tissue to which applied, it is so diffusive that it does not long derange the circulation, but on the contrary, equalizes it. Thus it is not only stimulant, but antispasmodic, sudorific, febrile, anti-inflammatory, depurating and restorative.”
Now let’s look briefly at heart attacks. It may or may not be new to you, but many have witnessed cayenne pepper stopping heart attacks in less than three minutes. Let’s read what this doctors have to say.
Dr. Anderson knew of a doctor who rushed out into the parking lot and put cayenne tincture into the mouth of a man who had died of a heart attack while he was parking his car. Within a few minutes, the man’s heart starting beating again.
According to Dr. Richard Anderson, using cayenne and hawthorn berries together has a most incredible effect upon the heart. He believes that a regimen of cayenne and hawthorn berries for several months will greatly strengthen the heart, and possibly prevent heart attacks. He states further that if an attack were to occur in someone who had followed this regimen, chances are very good that no damage would occur.
Dr. Christopher – “In 35 years of practice, and working with the people and teaching, I have never on house calls lost one heart attack patient and the reason is, whenever I go in–if they are still breathing–I pour down them a cup of cayenne tea (a teaspoon of cayenne in a cup of hot water, and within minutes they are up and around). This is one of the fastest acting aids we could ever give for the heart, because it feeds that heart immediately.
After reading about cayenne I myself started sprinkling the real hot cayenne (there are several heat units of cayenne) on my food more often. I also had cut myself a couple of times since then and sprinkled it on my bleeding little wound and it works, it stopped the bleeding every time so quick!
My advice is “don’t go out without having a cayenne with you on hand, if not for you maybe for rescuing someone else.”
There is so much more to say about cayenne, but I’ll let you do some of the research now.

Tax-Exemption, Favors, and Incorporation
In considering the subject of tax-exemption, favors, and incorporation, one can only agree that there has been, and still is, much debate in Christendom about if a church, or institution of a church, should receive favors, grants, or gifts from the world, and especially from governments. At the heart of the present-day issue are questions such as: “Should a church, or ministry of the church, be incorporated or unincorporated? Should the church seek a 501(c)(3) recognition from the IRS, or should it not?” Needless to say, this subject requires much prayer and thought. Nevertheless, we must carefully consider such issues when it comes to organizing a church or ministry of the church, and a little history will help in forming our conclusion.
At the SDA General Conference Session held February 17 to March 6, 1893, there was much debate about and resolutions to repudiate tax exemptions on all ecclesiastical property. This push was headed by the Religious Liberty movement within the SDA church. On March 3, 1893, the following resolutions were made by the General Conference concerning tax exemptions:
“Whereas, a better understanding of the principles of religious liberty is necessary, both for adequate appreciation of their importance, and an intelligent promulgation of them, therefore,
- Resolved, That we recommend to the several Conferences the holding of workers institutes for the study of religious liberty subjects, and that we will aid in such institutes as far as possible by furnishing instructors when so requested. Whereas, In view of the separation which we believe should exist between the Church and the State, it is inconsistent for the Church to receive from the State pecuniary gifts, favors, or exemptions, on religious grounds, therefore,
- Resolved, That we repudiate the doctrine that Church or other ecclesiastical property should be exempt from taxation, and, further,
- Resolved, That we use our influence in securing the repeal of such legislation as grants this exemption.” –General Conference Bulletin, 1893, p. 475.
Upon the adjournment of the meeting, and before it was dismissed, a message came from brother A. R. Henry concerning a problem facing a state representative of Michigan.
“The point in Brother Henry’s remarks was this: that our State representative from Battle Creek at the State Capital, who at the instance of trustees of several of our institutions, is working to obtain for them freedom from taxation for several of these institutions, is at a loss to know how to proceed or what to do, on account of the recent position by our people on this question. He and our attorney desire immediate instruction, and the attorney would like to meet a committee in regard to the matter, at the close of the meeting.
Voted that the Chair appoint a committee of five, to formulate a response to the foregoing, to be reported back to the General Conference for acceptance, before submitting to our representative at Lansing.
Carried. The Chair named as this committee, W. W. Prescott, A. R. Henry, U. Smith, A. T. Jones; G. C. Tenney.” –General Conference Bulletin, 1893, p. 484.
That evening, the committee of five reported back to the General Conference:
“The following report from the Special Committee appointed at the morning meeting was given by Prof. Prescott:—
Whereas, This Conference has clearly stated its position on the taxation of Church and other ecclesiastical property, and
Whereas, There are certain institutions incorporated under the laws of the State which occupy confessedly disputed grounds, therefore,
Resolved, That matters in which the taxation of such institutions as do occupy this disputed territory is involved—orphanages, houses for aged persons, hospitals, etc.—we leave to the action of the Legislature, without any protest against their taxation, or any request for exemption.” –General Conference Bulletin, 1893, p. 484.
Two Movements & Our Official Name
When we first launched this church, we were trying to decide on an appropriate name, one that reflected the everlasting covenant between God and Christ. Our first choice was “The Counsel of Peace,” but since others have already claimed that name, we had to keep thinking. Finally, we thought that, since the counsel of peace is connected to the present truth of each generation, we thought that “The Counsel of Prophecy” would be the perfect fit for expressing not only the eternal covenant, but also the present truth of prophecy. However, many of you, if not all, are unaware of our official name. You see, we believe we are in a movement that will last until the end of earth’s history. This movement is called The Protestant Reformation or Protestantism for short. This, of course, is a reference to what transpired over a number of centuries during the dark ages or middle ages as it is often called. Without going into details concerning the protest against the abominations of the church system, suffice it to say that the protestant reformers, and many of the princes of the Old World, were bound and determined to restore the pure religion of Christ. They stood against the forces of darkness and rebuked the worldly church of their day. The reformers proclaimed Solo Scriptura in the face of ecclesiastics who placed their traditions and creeds above the authority of God’s word. Such were the causes of separation from the worldly church then, and such are the causes of separation today! Because of the backsliding actions of today’s professed churches, there is constant need for the call to reform. And especially in light of the fact that those who professed to be Protestants are no longer protesting against the Papal system and the world, we have a sense of urgency to let the world know that the Protestant Reformation still stands.
In commenting on the advancement of both the Protestant Reformation and Catholicism, Ellen White writes, “As men were rising up in different lands to present to the people forgiveness and justification through the blood of Christ, Rome proceeded with renewed energy to open her market throughout Christendom, offering pardon for money. … Thus the two movements advanced,–one offering forgiveness of sin for money, the other forgiveness through Christ, — Rome licensing sin and making it her source of revenue; the Reformers condemning sin and pointing to Christ as the propitiation and deliverer. –The Great Controversy, 178. Notice the mentioning of two movements. Are these movements still advancing today? Are they still in opposition to each other? “It is Protestantism that will change. The adoption of liberal ideas on its part will bring it where it can clasp the hand of Catholicism. ‘The Bible, the Bible, is the foundation of our faith,’ was the cry of Protestants in Luther’s time, while the Catholics cried, ‘The Fathers, custom, tradition.’ Now many Protestants find it difficult to prove their doctrines from the Bible, and yet they have not the moral courage to accept the truth which involves a cross; therefore they are fast coming to the ground of Catholics, and, using the best arguments they have to evade the truth, cite the testimony of the Fathers, and the customs and precepts of men. Yes, the Protestants of the nineteenth century are fast approaching the Catholics in their infidelity concerning the Scriptures. But there is just as wide a gulf today between Rome and the Protestantism of Luther, Cranmer, Ridley, Hooper, and the noble army of martyrs, as there was when these men made the protest which gave them the name of Protestants. –Review & Herald, June 1, 1886 par. 13.
Friends, we must still stand for Solo Scriptura. Rome is making rapid advancement upon the professed Protestant world. Soon, she will have accomplished her aim in bringing all her daughters back home. Will you return? Will your church join hands with Rome? Or will you be a reformer until the end? We have been told, “The Reformation did not, as many suppose, end with [Martin] Luther. It is to be continued to the close of this world’s history. –The Great Controversy, 148. With such a fact, we wanted the world to know that we are bound and determined to call for reform until probation closes. That is why we have decided that our official name would be The Counsel of Prophecy 7th-Day Protestant Church. That’s right! We want to be in the movement that Jesus and His apostles started, that’s Protestantism! Inspiration says, “Christ was a protestant. He protested against the formal worship of the Jewish nation, who rejected the counsel of God against themselves. He told them that they taught for doctrines the commandments of men, and that they were pretenders and hypocrites. Like whited sepulchers they were beautiful without, but within full of impurity and corruption. The Reformers date back to Christ and the apostles. They came out and separated themselves from a religion of forms and ceremonies. Luther and his followers did not invent the reformed religion. They simply accepted it as presented by Christ and the apostles. The Bible is presented to us as a sufficient guide; but the pope and his workers remove it from the people as if it were a curse, because it exposes their pretensions and rebukes their idolatry. –Review & Herald, June 1, 1886 par. 14. Which cause is your church advancing? Which movement are you in?
Facets of Our Ministry!
Hi I’m Demario Carter with The Counsel of Prophecy Ministries. I know that there are many voices calling for your support today, and they all may be doing a wonderful work for God. Therefore, I want to especially thank you for even considering helping us as we do our small part to hasten Christ’s return. Following are the several facets of our church ministry of which you may support.
Facets in Action:
- Campus Ministry: Last year we launched our student campus ministry at Wichita State University. The purpose of our campus ministry is to help prepare young men and women for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come. Our grand mission is to learn the will of God and our duty towards Him. Beginning this fall semester, we plan to hold Bible study classes, prayer meetings, and Sabbath chapel services for the students and community. We also, as providence allows, plan to in involve the students in mission projects in the Wichita community, mission trips to other states, and, of course, life changing Christian fellowship. Funds donated to this facet will be used to hold campus evangelistic series and assistance for mission projects. Go here for more information.
- Evangelistic Outreach: Presently, we are ministering to men who are lodge in a local homeless shelter. Bi-monthly we are scheduled to conduct a chapel service for an average of one hundred men in which we sing and preach the gospel to them. We have had many men answer the appeal of the message to surrender their hearts to Christ. Also, as opportunity comes, we visit families in the hospital or at home to encourage the weary. We hold in-home Bible studies and answer the call to witness wherever God sends. In short, the outreach of this church ministry is ongoing, with much work yet to be done. Funds donated to this facet will be used to supply literature to our community and assist in the continuance of in-home visits and Bible studies.li>
- Lifestyle Center: Recently, a donor provided us with a motor home (RV). This has allowed us to take the next step in our long-term plans for a small health retreat. With this RV, we are now able to offer the Saving Health lifestyle program to our community. In this program we plan to teach the eight laws of health and how they can prevent and reverse disease. We will take our guests through a 10-day detoxification process and rebuilding of the body. Funds donated to this facet will be used to purchase necessary supplies to start-up the program, repair and maintenance the RV, and assist those guests who are unable to render the full suggested donation for the program. For more information about this program, go here.
- Media Productions: Social media outlets have become a major means of transmitting information. To take advantage of this, we have a media program in which we produce sermons for YouTube and articles for our website. We also send out sermons or lectures on DVDs. Currently, we edit and produce our own programs, which can be time consuming. Funds for this facet will be used to help maintain the production equipment and assist in the creation of more materials. You can view some of our recordings here.
Facets in the Making:
- Small health retreat: It is clear in inspiration that the gospel work must be united with the medical ministry. The right arm of the gospel, medical evangelism, is as important to the work is the hand is to the body. Therefore, our ministry plans to operate a small health retreat in which we minister to the physical and spiritual sicknesses of those in our community. We desire a safe haven for the sick to resort to in order to recover health and learn a lifestyle approach to wellness. Since the details of such a ministry are yet to be determined, I cannot say much more than the fact that such a retreat will also provide an opportunity for the students in our School of the Prophets to learn the ministry of healing. Furthermore, we are currently searching for property to settle the ministry on. We are looking for acreage between 10 and 200. Funding for this facet will go towards the purchase of such property. Although we prefer to settle in the state of Kansas, we are seeking God’s leading. As His providence opens doors, we plan to move accordingly.
- School of the Prophets: As mentioned earlier, we are moving in the direction of starting a modern-day School of the Prophets modeled after the blueprint. In Counsels on Sabbath School Work page 62, the servant of the Lord says, “We must educate the youth, that they may learn how to work for the salvation of souls.” And in Gospel Workers, page 210 she says, “They must be taught how to labor for the Master. They must be trained, disciplined, drilled, in the best methods of winning souls to Christ.” Furthermore, the ancient Schools of the Prophets employed a work-study program that fostered a well-rounded character development for the pupils. Inspirations says, “The pupils of these schools sustained themselves by their own labor in tilling the soil or in some mechanical employment.” Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 593. One final note! We are also told what their main subjects of study were. “The chief subjects of study in these schools were the law of God, with the instructions given to Moses, sacred history, sacred music, and poetry.” Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 593. It is with such inspiration that we embark upon this all important task of raising an army of youth who can take the Present Truth into the four corners of the globe. The educational program of this school will include evangelism, agriculture, some form of industrial training, sacred music, and other, necessary academia. As we progress in our health retreat phase, we plan to give more attention to this school. Funding for this facet will go towards the securing of property and/or the purchase of supplies needed for the program.
When Moses was in the mount with God, he received the charge to gather freewill offerings from the children of Israel for the purpose of building a sanctuary for God. Moses, after receiving the plans of the sanctuary and its services, made an appeal to the people to bring their offerings on their own freewill. The response to that appeal was amazing. You can read it in Exodus 36:3-6. The children of Israel were so excited to act there part in supporting God’s work, that they willingly gave much more than what was initially needed. Consequently, they were told to cease their offerings. This is a lesson for you and me today. The Bible says, “He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6, 7. In light of the above plans we have for the ministry, we follow Moses’ example in making an appeal to you for your support of the work. You may donate here.
Thank you again for doing your part to hasten Christ’s return!
A Note from the Director:
It is with great aspiration that we send you this appeal. Our purpose is to prepare men and women to stand through the last events of earth’s history and to rejoice at the second coming of Jesus Christ. Please join us in prayer as we embark upon this journey to the Holy City together!
With Kind Regards,
Demario Carter
